How did Olea Digitalis start?
A fusion of tradition, technology, and vision for the future of olive growing.
History & Roots
My name is Ivo Cetinić, and for more than two decades, I have been developing websites and digital solutions. My internet story began in 1997 when I first came into contact with web design and graphic tools like Adobe Photoshop 5.5. Over the years, I gained experience working in the IT sector and building dozens of websites, following the evolution of the internet from Web1 through Web2 to today's Web3 era. At the same time, olive growing has always been a part of my family. I inherited my great-grandfather's olive grove, and my goal was to improve the tracking of its production and ensure accurate data for each individual olive tree — from planting to processing.
P.O.C. Olive Grove: Digital Location
As a Proof of Concept (PoC), I created an ASA NFT (Algorand Standard Asset) for the first olive tree (VL01-T001), demonstrating that the idea is not only theoretically possible but also practical. This digital record serves as a permanent guarantee of the tree's location, variety, and ownership on the blockchain.
Blockchain as a Solution
Olea Digitalis: Blockchain as a Service (BaaS) system for olive growers and mills that enables simple, transparent, and immutable certification and traceability of extra virgin olive oil. By scanning a QR code, consumers get the full story of the olive oil bottle — from the tree of harvest to the laboratory processing results.
